So funny I had to share!!

By Shannon Popkin

My little guy, Cade, is quite a talker. People often comment on how clearly he speaks for a just-turned- 3-year-old. And you never have to ask him to turn up the volume. It's always fully cranked. There've been several embarrassing times that I've wished the meaning of his words would have been masked by a not-so-audible voice, but never have I wished this more than last week at Costco. Halfway through our shopping trip, nature called, so I took Cade with me into the restroom. If you'd been one of the ladies in the restroom that evening, this is what you would have heard coming from the second to the last stall: 'Mommy, are you gonna go potty? Oh! Why are you putting toiwet paper on the potty, Mommy? Oh! You gonna sit down on da toiwet paper now? Mommy, what are you doing? Mommy, are you gonna go stinkies on the potty?' At this point I started mentally counting how many women had been in the bathroom when I walked in. Several stalls were full ... 4? 5? Maybe we could wait until they all left before I had to make my debut out of this stall and reveal my identity. Cade continued, 'Mommy, you ARE going stinkies aren't you? Oh, dats a good girl, Mommy! Are you gonna get some candy for going stinkies on the potty? Let me see doze stinkies, Mommy! Oh ... Mommy! I'm trying to see in dere. Oh! I see dem. Dat is a very good girl, Mommy. You are gonna get some candy!" I heard a few faint chuckles coming from the stalls on either side of me. Where is a screaming new born when you need her? Good grief. This was really getting embarrassing. I was definitely waiting a long time before exiting. Trying to divert him, I said, 'Why don 't you look in Mommy's purse and see if you can find some candy. We'll both have some! ' 'No, I'm trying to see doze more stinkies. Oh! Mommy!' He started to gag at this point. 'Uh oh, Mommy. I fink I'm gonna frow up. Mommy, doze stinkies are making me frow up!! Dat is so gross!!' As the gags became louder, so did the chuckles outside my stall. I quickly flushed the toilet in hopes of changing the subject. I began to reason with myself: OK. There are four other toilets. If I count four flushes, I can be reasonably assured that those who overheard this embarrassing monologue will be long gone. 'Mommy! Would you get off the potty, now? I want you to be done going stinkies! Get up! Get up!' He grunted as he tried to pull me off. Now I could hear full-blown laughter. I bent down to count the feet outside my door. 'Oh, are you wooking under dere, Mommy? You wooking under da door? What were you wooking at, Mommy? You wooking at the wady's feet?' More laughter. I stood inside the locked door and tried to assess the situation. 'Mommy, it's time to wash our hands, now. We have to go out now, Mommy.' He started pounding on the door. 'Mommy, don't you want to wash your hands? I want to go out!!' I saw that my 'wait 'em out' plan was unraveling. I sheepishly opened the door, and found standing outside my stall, twenty to thirty ladies crowded around the stall, all smiling and starting to applaud. My first thought was complete embarrassment, then I thought, 'Where's the fine print on the motherhood contract' where I signed away every bit of my dignity and privacy?' But as my little boy gave me a big, cheeky grin while he rubbed bubbly soap between his chubby little hands, I thought, I'd sign it all away again, just to be known as Mommy to this little fellow.

Oh what lies ahead in my future! :0) I HOPE NOT! lol

New Tooth!

Kyson has been teething for awhile. He isn't ever cranky about it though..it just HAPPENS! Three weeks ago he was running a fever, had diarrhea and pulling on his ears but not upset. For the past few days he has been sleeping more, clingy and still pulling on that right ear. Well yesterday after his doctor appointment I was playing with him and as he laughed I saw something..yep a TOOTH! The top right one has cut through. You can see the left coming too but its not through yet. He is going to have 4 teeth soon!! Where does the time go?!

Friday night the Family went out on the town. We got to walk around in the nice night weather and eat kennel corn! (yes I had some) :0) Kurtis, his dad Greg, Mom, sister Kelly, brother Gregory, family friend Heather and of course Kyson and I went. We had so much fun in the pumpkin patch! I have never been in a real one before! Grandma Kim wanted so bad to take Ky on a ride so she took him on the Carosel! He is kinda to small to show emotion but he didn't freakout..he just clapped! Thanks for the great night guys!

So I have been trying to lose weight for awhile. But have been going to the gym religiously since the beginning of September. As o a week ago I started the Nutrisystem Diet...and have lost FIVE pounds! 5-7..scales are horrible you can never tell unless you have one of those big ones. No doctor visits for me though until like April..so I will see then.
Anyways, today I had a HUGE break through for myself. If anyone knows me well enough you know I am not an athlete and I HATE to run! I used to workout with my sister in law and she would run for 30mins straight and I could barely run for 1 whole minute! About 5 weeks ago I got to 5mins..and today..TEN MINUTES STRAIGHT!! I was smiling and running! I mean I have never been able to do that. Not even in Jr. High! I mean I ran the mile in like 15mins back then. lol So today I walk with my head high..I have lost 10lbs so far and can now run for almost 10 whole minutes!!

Best gift..Sleep

Hah. Kyson has been sleeping through the night since he was 4 months old. But he is an early riser. Ok 7am might not be early to some but it is for me! Especially since Kurtis and I like to stay up late with one another. Well today was the first day of going back to church after conference and baby blessings...our new time...a yucky 2pm. Well this morning I woke up to nothing. I freaked out a bit. It was 7:30am and no crying? no laughing or talking? I checked the monitor he was sleeping! An hour later..he woke up and started to talk. I couldn't believe it! I don't think he has EVER slept in that late. I wonder if he will do it again tomorrow?

Not 1, Not 2..3!!

I noticed something funny about Kyson today at church. I like to limit how many cheerios I have in my hand so he doesn't make a mess...well I had only one. He just stared. I had two..he just stared..when I put three he grabbed them up so fast it was hilarious! I always had to give him three. One for his mouth and then one for each hand! lol My kid is amazing!
