I'm Back!

Home at last! Been one busy month, September is almost gone! Even though I am home to stay Kurtis is leaving early tomorrow morning to go Hunting! Looks like September passed us by and we only spent a total of 7 days together the ENTIRE month!! That is pretty crazy! A friend was telling me that out of like 4 years of marriage her and her spouce only have spent time away from eachother twice! Boy would I LOVE to be able to say that. But Kurtis has his hunting and I am thankful that I was able to go to Finland. It was an AMAZING trip!

On the 3rd of September BRIGHT and EARLY my mom, 2 sisters and I started our journey. We traveled for about a day and a half. When we got there it was 11am. So we didn't get to sleep! You have to try and beat the Jet Lag! (or is that 2 words? lol) Anyways the next day we woke up refreshed and ready to go. We didn't have that bad of an adjustment. I mean every night we were exhausted but I think that was merely because of all the fun activities my cousins and Aunt had planned and the countless amount of WALKING! I didn't even gain a POUND! I ate and ate and ate! But not one pound gained. Gotta love that! I swear everyday we ended it with a cone of ice-cream. They have the best kind!!

I can't tell you what we did in order everyday...lets face it that would be kinda boring and take WAY to long. So in a nutshell this is how my 2 weeks were spent in Finland.

Shopping and Eating! ha ha no...we did go around town and figure out the best Hotel to stay in because next year my whole family will be going. If you didn't already know my mom was born and raised in Finland. My sister in laws have voiced that they would love to see where she grew up and learn about the culture so YAY we get to take them next year. No grandchildren. JUST THE ADULTS!! So we made plans on what we are going to do while there. We also got to go and see where my mom grew up again. Where she would go and take in her time at the local Sauna with her family. Where she went to school, went door to door handing out News Papers. Even where she had her first kiss! Oh and the tree by her apartment that her boyfriend would wait for her by. It is so great seeing my mom over there. She is so in her element and so happy! She is like a kid in a candy store!

While there we did tour a Fazar chocolate factory. If you don't know Fazar you don't know the BEST chocolate in the world!! It was so great we got to see how they made their product and even taste it! Yep they put us in a room and we got to try ALL the candy bars. We didn't even have to eat the whole bar they provided a bin for us to dispose of it. It was so sad to see all the half eaten candy bars. We got to watch the machines make the calendars for Christmas. The ones when you open the date behind the door is a chocolate. SO cool!

We also got to tour a Castle, which ofcourse Kirsi LOVED! I on the other hand couldn't breath! It was so musty! I mean is was cool and interesting but not my cup of tea. We also went to Fiskars. Have you looked at your sizzors? Did you know they might have been made in Finland!? Yep!! Fiskars!! So cool! Didn't even know that. Nokia..Finland too! (that I have known though)

Being there for 2 weeks I learned some Finnish. Now mind you it was all about food! ha ha. Or asking what this is that I was looking at. Or Hi or Bye...you know. Small talk. But it was nice to see my fanily enjoy my struggle in pronoucing it and then achieving the right sound. It was so nice to see my cousin Satu and her 2 kids. They are the cutest kids! Even though that can't communicate with me they are so fun. I finally got Melissa to car dance with me. ha ha She thinks I'm crazy but I think I won her over since I like HSM and Hannah Montana. And when I knew one of the Jonas Brothers songs...lol. But I told her that she needs some Backstreet Boys cds. So that is my next mission...send her some good BSB tunes!

It was hard to leave my Aunts, and Cousins but I am glad that I get to go back next year. Pictures will come as soon as I get them from my mom. Then maybe I will tell you more of what I did by photo. Their is just so much to cover.
