Swim Day

Kurtis and I decided it was time to get in the pool and spend some quality time with Kyson. So we bought him a floaty, some sunscreen and we put to good use the swimsuit his Great Aunt Suvi bought him and the sunglasses his Grandma Hahn bought him.

He loved to kick and splash! But when I put him under..neither him nor Kurtis enjoyed that.

Lucky Me

Last night Kyson was acting completely exhausted! He was just barely able to hold his head up while I was feeding him and just lookng around like he was so tired! So he was in bed by 7pm. Which has been a norm for the past 2-3 weeks. So Kurtis and I stayed up watching a movie and went to bed at about 10pm thinking Kyson would be up in an hour. NOPE! He slept straight until 3:40am!!!I couldn't believe it! I was in pain so I had to go pump about an hour before that because I woke up just like he usually does. After that he went to bed until 5:40am nd then played with Kurtis until about 7:30am and then I fed him at 8am. Wow. I sure hope that this means he might be getting better! :)

June is almost over!

So after Costa Rica this month has FLOWN by. I can't believe that July is NEXT week. My son is almost 6 months old! He has been apart of our lives for almost half a year! Its crazy! I never knew that having a child could make time fly by. Everyday with Kyson is a blessing and I am so thankful to have him apart of our lives.
So we took Kyson to Lake Bartlet for a day. We were going to spend the night but Kyson decided he didn't want to. So after a long day at the lake we drove home at 3am. Nice right? No sleep for mom that day. But we had a great time. Kurtis tried to take me on the jet ski..but they aren't built for two people. Atleast that one wasn't. Kurtis had a blast doing that and surfing behind the boat. I don't surf! lol Yes yes chicken I know.
So in the slide show if you noticed..Kyson has a pacifier in his mouth. YES! He hasn't slept with it yet. I am not sure how to really push it on him. But he will take it for a couple minutes. Which is an improvement. I am not a big one against thumb sucking since I did myself. I just hope that this will mean he will develop a soother and maybe put himself to sleep soon!
Kyson is still having a hard time sleeping through the night. I am going to slowly start giving him more cereal and maybe start some applesauce or one of the suggested solids. He doesn't seem to interested in breast feeding anymore now that I have to suppliment.
It seems like this blog is a bunch of random thoughts. Hope everyone is having a fabulous June and will have a GREAT JULY!

Finding the Right Meds

As you all know..Kyson has reflux. It is one battle that I can not wait until it is over. They can outgrow it somewhere between 6-12 months old. He is just around the corner of being 6 months old so I hope it starts to go away. I have decided that I don't really like the specialist he is seeing. Maybe I am just being impetient or I have this motherly vibe telling me that the meds he is giving my child aren't right. I don't know. I have been on the computer researching like crazy because I just have something telling me that it may be to much or its not the right kind. The first day I gave Kyson his second type of meds..he was NOT happy. So I read online articles. Nothing. Then I went to Baby Center and found other women with children who have reflux. They said that Reglan can cause mood swings. Nice. So I stopped it for a couple days to see if that was it. Kyson got better. But not his symptoms. So two days later I gave it to him again. This time BEFORE his meals. Thats right. The doctor never told me to do that. The ladies on the board suggested it. They also sugggested to put him on a hyperallergenic formula because SOY can cause constipation and with reflux, milk..wheat and eggs can cause the heartburn or stomach problems. What a handful right? After talking with most of these women I have learned that I have a low grade kind to deal with. Kyson is what you call a silent refluxer. He doesn't spit up as often as most. So he goes back to the doctor in two weeks. This time his Pediatritian. Which I trust her more. I would ask the specialist questions and he wouldn't know the answers! It wasn't his area. Ok...my thinking. IF breastmilk can cause reflux to flare up. SHOULDN'T HE KNOW SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Grr.

Costa Rica

Our Adventure started on June 7th at 3am in the morning. We left Kyson with Kurtis' parents. They watched him at our house to make him more comfortable. We were on the plane by 5am and on our way to Houston for our connecting flight. Let me just tell you that traveling with a pump was the best thing because I would have EXPLODED! We landed in Costa Rica around 4pm there time which is 2pm here. It was raining and humid. But beautiful! We had to take a 2 hour bus ride to our Hotel. Can I just tell you that I am glad we did this in daylight? That road was NARROW and CRAZY! We had to go up a HUGE mountain and then back around it and all over the place. In HORRIBLE weather. To our excitement while crossing a bridge we saw crocidiles. Which is why I have a huge bruse on my right thigh. I got so excited I missed the step and hit my thigh on Kurtis' armrest. That night Kurtis and I checked in, walked around the hotel, ate, had ourselves a Pina Colada and then went to bed.

The next morning we had some yummy room service and got up when we wanted to. Around 10am we called the front desk to get my brothers room number. Dustin and Amy came on the trip as well. They took a later flight. So we met up at the pool. We had the whole day to kill so we decided to go to town. In Paco we ate, shopped and watched some kind of a parade they had going on. Some were dressed up as what I can descride as future power rangers. And some a more traditional spanish costume I suppose? Even though they are Costarican. Anyways it was WAY to hot and humid to stick around longer. The weather was draining us since we aren't used to it being so humid. We had to get back for a dinner party with Aetna. Everynight was another dinner party. This one was at our hotel. Some of the food was good and some not so much. No perfect desserts but some tasty.

Our second day there was an adventure. Kurtis talked me into going Ziplining. Let me just tell you I was soooo nerous! The first run I wouldn't break eyes with the man at the next sdtation. But after that I tried to enjoy the view. You never knew how high you were because you were seeing the tops of the trees in the jungle. We did get to see some wild life. We saw Spider Monkies and a HUGE spider. Oh and Ants the size of Bees! It was amazing and I would definately do it again! After that..Pool Time! We were all so hungry that we went to the bar and got nachos and PINA COLADAS! Dinner that night was at a 5 star resort that only has 8 bedrooms. It was amazing! The Chef gave us a tour of some of the rooms. Each room had its own theme and its own hot tub. Very fancy rooms.

Our third day there we went horseback riding. Dustin and Kurtis were in Heaven. They are "closet" cowboys. If I let Kurtis he would wear wranglers and cowboy boots! Amy was excited to go and I on the other hand yet again, Nervous! I hadn't been on a horse since I was about 10 and even then I almost got bucked off. My horse was great. At first I was even more scared because he pranced to the front of the group so for the first 20mins or so I was up at the front without Kurtis, Amy or Dustin. Kurtis' horse was LAZY! He was always last. Just before our break Amys horse got into trouble. He had been niping at any passing horse but then all of a sudden he reared up and kicked a passing horse and the passanger in the ankle. Poor girl. But she was ok. So Amy and her horse were in timeout and had to be last in line. We stopped had some water and a banana and then went on our way. We were so hot that we went to the pool as soon as we got back. Another Pina Colada please!! The dinner that night was out in the middle of the Jungle.

The next day Kurtis and I slept in. It was our last night or good rest before coming home to our precious little man. We ate breakfast and packed and walked around the hotel. We had to be on the bus by 11am. We had so much fun there with Dustin and Amy and we hope that we all can make it to the next Aetna trip in Aspen!

HE DID IT!!!

He finally did it in front of us! Kurtis and I were hiding in the hall watching him play on his mat and there it was...his chance to flip over thinking no one was watching. Well we saw it! KYSON FLIPPED ONTO HIS BELLY ALL BY HIMSELF!! No coaching nothing! I am so excited and proud of my son! :)

Kyson Vs. Dog

So Kyson was bite by a dog a couple weeks ago. He walked away with scratches on his leg. The same dog was allowed around him again (not by us) and it SNAPPED at him three times. WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN THE OWNER JUST BRUSHES IT OFF?! I say don't go over there. The dog is not allowed anywhere near my son and I don't want to take him to that house while the dog is allowed to rome wherever it wants. GRRR! I'm sorry but if that dog struck blood on my son...HECK TO PAY! That dog would not be living right now. This whole situation has me sooooooo ANGRY! I hate that dog and I never want to see it again!
